Alexander Kowalski

Alexander Kowalski is a Berlin-based electronic music artist, producer and live performer whose work combines the physical force of techno with depth, atmosphere and a strong sense of musical identity.

He began making electronic music around 1995, emerging from Berlin’s 1990s club culture and developing a hands-on, hardware-driven approach to production. His first live performances followed in 1997, including an early appearance at Tresor. He has been performing live ever since.

Under the alias DisX3, Kowalski released his first records on Tresor Records before establishing himself under his own name through a series of influential releases on Heiko Laux’s Kanzleramt Music label. He also releases techno as d_func.

His debut album Echoes was released in 2001, followed by Progress in 2002 and Response in 2003 — records that defined a sound built around hardware, live jams and a balance between direct club energy and emotional detail. Tracks such as “Speaker Attack” and “Belo Horizonte”, as well as collaborations with Raz Ohara, became key moments in his catalogue.

In 2006, Changes on PIAS marked a broader musical phase, followed in 2009 by the launch of his own label Damage Music Berlin. His 2018 album Cycles on MORD opened another important chapter and ultimately provided the foundation for his new label, Cycles Music.

Today, Kowalski continues to develop his work through new productions, live performances and Cycles Music — a platform for new material, selected reissues and a wider artistic vision rooted in timeless, physical and atmospheric electronic music.
